Miley Cyrus is done playing kid-friendly Hannah Montana, and the 18-year-old pop star has been eager to show the world she's no longer a tween sensation. But the producers of Miley’s upcoming film LOL are taking precautions so the star's real life partying doesn't take a toll on the movie's success.
According to UsMagazine.com, one particular scene of LOL is being doctored with "tricky editing and effects magic" in order to "(erase) all traces of (Miley) inhaling or being in the same shot with the actor (who is smoking pot)."
The film's producers, of course, don't want to remind audiences of Miley’s notorious salvia smoking incident, which was caught on tape in November 2010. In the video, Miley giggles about her "trip" and appears to hallucinate about her ex-boyfriend after taking several bong hits of the substance. While salvia is a legal drug, it's listed as a "drug of concern" by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
An insider on LOL says the pot-smoking movie scene "can't be reshot" and editors are busy erasing Miley's "entire arm" out of the shot.
"The studio doesn't want to take any chances having the controversy affect the film," says the insider of Miley’s hyped-up hallucinogen trip.
The pop star's father, Billy Ray Cyrus, told fans he was "so sad" about Miley’s mishap. "Sorry guys, I had no idea," he wrote on Dec. 10. "I just a saw this stuff for the first time myself... There is much beyond my control right now."
The UsWeekly.com insider added that unlike her dad, Miley "didn't seem to care" about the repercussions her salvia smoking had on her upcoming film.
LOL, which costars Demi Moore as Miley's mom and is set to hit theaters on April 22, follows 16-year-old Lola (Cyrus) as she tries to balance two conflicting sides of herself: the studious good girl and the budding young adult longing to experiment. Gee, sounds like someone else we know.
