Lindsay Lohan has definitely been the butt of plenty of jokes lately, so it would be great to see the troubled starlet dole out some laughs of her own. And it seemed LiLo was getting her chance when it was announced that she would appear on The Late Show with David Letterman Thursday night, to read the host's famed "Top Ten" list. But Lohan says it's simply not true.
CBS announced on Tuesday that Lohan, who is currently on probation, would be appearing on the show via satellite. But late that night, Lohan took to her Twitter to address the news. "I am NOT going to be doing David Letterman, I'm not sure how this happened, but I am sorry for the confusion..." she wrote.
On Wednesday morning, Letterman's Worldwide Pants production company weighed in with a statement of its own. "Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday's Late Show with David Letteman, as had been previously announced. We made a mistake," it read.
"Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay's reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear," the statement continued. "Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future."
That is, if Lohan is up for doing the show; she might not be the biggest Letterman fan after all the jokes he's made about her recently. After she was charged with stealing a necklace from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store earlier this month, Letterman had a field day. During Sunday night's Grammys, he presented his "Surprises at the 2011 Grammy Awards" and number 10 was: "Lindsay Lohan seen leaving Staples Center with Grammy-shaped bulge in her jacket."
Then on Monday's show, the comedian told his audience that, in the aftermath of the upheaval in Egypt, someone noticed that King Tut’s necklace was missing. "Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay," Letterman poked.
