Since 2006, Steve Carell has received an Emmy nod each year -- but never an actual Emmy -- for his role as goofball manager Michael Scott on The Office. And now that he has officially stashed away his "World's Best Boss" mug and left the show, Sept. 18 will be the actor's final shot at winning gold for the hit NBC sitcom.
So, will the sixth time be the charm? Carell doesn't seem too sure.
"I wouldn't put money on it that I would win, but it would certainly be nice," the 48-year-old actor tells iVillage. "I’m going to go with an open mind and an open heart."
Though Carell has moved on from The Office gang (though he swears they all keep in touch!), he can currently be seen on the big screen starring in the hilarious new romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. (in theaters July 29). Yet the real-life dad of two says raising his kids -- Annie, 10, and Jonny, 7 -- is the best role he's ever played.
"I'd like to think I'm a good father," he says. "You're generally good at the things, or better at the things, that you enjoy, and that’s something that I enjoy more than anything."
Watch our exclusive video interview to find out whether Carell is a strict dad and why he says he hit the jackpot when he married his wife Nancy 15 years ago.
