Getting an Oscar or an Emmy is all well and good. But nothing says "I've made it!" quite like receiving your own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, that famous star-studded (literally) sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. On Tuesday, the star selection committee announced that Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Winslet and Scarlett Johansson will be among the 2012 honorees who will join the ranks of immortals like Charlie Chaplin, Paul Newman and Marilyn Monroe by putting their paw print in the pavement on the famed thoroughfare.
While Aniston's greatest career triumph to date has been starring as the beloved Rachel Green on TV's Friends, she'll be be honored for her work in film. This may come as a surprise, since Aniston's film career has been a bit hit or miss, while she garnered five Emmy nominations, one Emmy win and one Golden Globe for her stint on Friends. Not bad for an actress also just honored for a "decade of hotness." We thought she should be given a star for that famous haircut in and of itself.
Titanic star Winslet will receive her star on the Walk of Fame for her uniformly excellent work in film. With six Oscar nominations -- and one win, for her role in The Reader -- to her name, we'd say she deserves it.
While J.Lo is known as a movie star, American Idol judge and People's Most Beautiful Person this year, she's be receiving a star for her accomplishments as a music recording artist.
Other stars being honored with a coveted spot on the Walk are Scarlett Johansson, Vin Diesel, Simpsons creator Matt Groening and Law & Order: SVU actress Mariska Hargitay.
The induction ceremony will take place next year. Click here for a full list of this year's honorees.
